EVANSVILLE, Ind. – MVC play continues for the University of Evansville women’s tennis team as they will play host to Bradley and Illinois State in a pair of weekend matches at Wesselman Park.
On Saturday, the Aces will face Bradley at 1 p.m. while Sunday’s tilt against Illinois State is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
Evansville fell to 6-7 in dual matches this season with a 6-1 loss to Southern Illinois on Wednesday afternoon in the MVC opener.
Marketa Trousilova picked up the point for UE, earning the win (6-3, 6-4) over Natasha Tomishima.
In doubles play, Trousilova and
Natasha James grabbed an 8-4 victory over Melanie Delsart and Anastacia Simons.
Saturday’s opponent, Bradley, enters the weekend with a 7-10 and 0-1 in the Valley after a 7-0 defeat at the hands of Illinois State on March 29. Last time out, the Braves fell by a 5-2 final to South Dakota State as they have dropped four of their last five matches with the win coming over Coe College.
At flight one singles, Adele Henke leads the way with a 9-8 mark while Carly Miles checks in with a 9-7 overall mark. Miles has played nine matches in flight four, going 5-4 while her top efforts have come in the fifth slot where she has gone 3-1.
Despite a 7-9 overall mark, Illinois State is 2-0 in the MVC thanks wins over Bradley (7-0) and Creighton (6-1). Last time out against Bradley, the top doubles duo of Kadi Ilves and Phyllis Tigges earned an 8-0 shutout while top singles player Emmie Marx was dominant in her out, winning by a final of 6-3 and 6-1.
