Ashley Ring led all players with 18 kills, but four Bruins finished in double figures as Belmont took down the University of Evansville volleyball team by a 3-1 final on Tuesday evening.

Belmont (4-9) opened the match with a 25-19 win before Evansville (5-6) took a 25-18 victory in set number two. The Bruins took the third by a 25-21 final before clinching the match in extra points (29-27). Aside from Ring's performance,
Rachel TenHoor finished with ten kills while four Aces tallied double figure digs.

In the opening frame, Belmont jumped out to a 9-2 advantage as Allison McCoy registered a pair of kills early on. That opening stretch was all that the Bruins needed as they cruised to a 25-19 win.

It was Evansville who took control in game two as Ring began the set with two kills of her own. With the score tied at 8-8,
Lauren Seyller set the offense on a 7-3 stretch to open up a 15-11 lead. The Aces held their ground throughout the set, never giving up their advantage.

Hannah Miranda got the Bruins within two points at 20-18 before the Aces regrouped and forced four Belmont errors in taking a 25-18 win to tie the match.

Rachel TenHoor posted two kills as the Aces began the third set on a 4-0 stretch before the Bruins battled back to tie it up for the first time at 8-8. The deciding point of the set came in the form of a 6-1 Belmont run; with the score tied at 13, the Bruins made their rally before finishing the set with a 25-21 win.

As was the case in the previous set, game four saw Evansville jump out to the early advantage, scoring the first three points en route to an 11-7 lead. The Bruins made their run, tying the score at 13-13 before taking their first lead a point later.

Later, UE had a shot to send it to a fifth set as they held a 24-22 lead, but Jessica Vestal posted a kill as Belmont rallied late to tie it up at 24-24. The Aces had one more chance to seal the game, but Vestal struck again has her kill was the deciding point, giving the Bruins a 29-27 win and the match.

Conference play is up next for Evansville as they begin league play on Friday evening at Illinois State before traveling to Terre Haute on Saturday.
