SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The University of Evansville women's soccer team (8-4-3, 1-1-1) went on the road on Saturday and tied Missouri State 1-1 in double overtime.

The first half featured the ball mostly in the midfield as each tallied only one shot and no goals.

Evansville came out on the offensive in the second half, outshooting Missouri State 10-3 in the final 45 minutes of regulation.

UE went ahead 1-0 when junior forward Kayla Smith scored in the 74th minute. Teammate Olivia Shafer found Smith on the left flank who moved in all alone for the go-ahead goal. It was the first goal of the season for Smith and first assist of the year for Shafer.

Evansville's defense kept it 1-0 until the waning moments when the Bears scored the equalizer in the 86th minute. The goal by Molly Huber, her 11th of the season, tied the match and forced overtime.

Neither team was able to score in the first 10 minutes of the first overtime.

UE had one last chance in the second overtime period, but sophomore midfielder Bronwyn Boswell's attempt was punched by the Bears goalkeeper Laura Ketzer over the net to preserve the tie.

Boswell and freshman Nicki Baham led Evansville with three shots each.

Junior goalkeeper Simone Busby had no saves in the tie.

Evansville will now host Indiana State at Arad McCutchan Stadium on Wednesday, October 15 at 5:00 p.m.
