NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Tap for Cross Country

EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
One of the top runners in program history – Josh Genet – will run his final race as the University of Evansville cross country teams travel to Madison, Wisc. on Friday for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional.
 
Set to take place at the Zimmer Championship Course, the women will run a 6-kilometer race at noon before the men take their turn on the course for a 10-k event at 1 p.m.
 
The last action for the Purple Aces came on Nov. 1 as the teams ran in the Missouri Valley Conference Championships in Carbondale, Ill.  UE's men were led by senior Josh Genet.  He finished in 56th out of 69 participants, running a 26:29.25.  It was his third-best 8K run of the year.  Sophomore Ross Frondorf was close behind, tecording a 27:23.08.  It was by far his fastest time of 2014.  His previous best in 2014 was a 28:03.18 at the Greater Louisville Classic.
 
Third for the men was Matt Hamilton.  His 27:42.55 was his no. 2 time of the year.  Roudning out the top five for the Aces were Jon Ashby and Ben Woolems.  Ashby finished the 8K race in 29:20.48 while Woolems checked in at 28:47.73.  Ben Johnson ran a 30:51.49 and Isaiah Frey came in at 30:59.46 for his top collegiate time.
 
Evansville's women took ninth in the event with 288 points.  Pacing the Purple Aces was junior Laurel Wolfe.  She ran an 18:44.09, which was just nine seconds off of her PR.  Her time put her in 50th place out of 79 runners.
 
Next across the stripe was senior Kirsten Perrey.  Her effort of 19:02.03 was the second-best time of her career.  That followed her top time, which came at the UE Invitational (18:36.5) where she took third.  Elizabeth Kingshott continued to improve in her junior campaign.  She has improved every race and this one was no different as she posted her best time of the season – a 19:03.06.
 
Fourth for the women was Alyssa Moran with a 19:34.76.  It was her second-best time of 2014.  Rounding out the top five for UE was Loren Oboikovitz.  She set another PR with a 19:34.89.  Five of the top 5K times in her career have come this season.  Sophie Etienne was another runner who posted her top career time.  She finished the race with a 20:12.30, eclipsing her previous best of 20:27.97, which came earlier this season at Louisville.
