Three UE Women’s Soccer Players Named to NSCAA All-Region Team

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Three University of Evansville women's soccer players were honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for their athletic achievements on Thursday. Sophomore midfielder Bronwyn Boswell and senior defender Taylor Brand were both named to the 2014 NSCAA/ Continental Tire Division I Women's All-Great Lakes Region Second Team. Junior goalkeeper Simone Busby was also recognized on the All-Great Lakes Region Third Team as well. UE was the only school in the Missouri Valley Conference to have three honorees.
 
"I am thrilled that Taylor, Bronwyn, and Simone were recognized for their performances this year," said Evansville head coach Krista McKendree. "It is a great accolade for our entire program as well as those young ladies.
 
Boswell was named to the MVC First Team this season after scoring a team-best nine goals, fifth most in the MVC. She totaled seven game winning goals this year, third most in the nation. Boswell had two multi-goal games this year (Austin Peay, Indiana State) and guided UE offensively to the MVC Tournament Championship match. She was also named to the 2014 coSIDA Academic All-District First Team.
 
Brand was named the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year and on the MVC First Team in 2014. She guided UE's defense to 13 team shutouts this season, a new program record. Boswell also piloted the Aces backline to six straight shutouts, another program record. Additionally, Boswell led the Evansville defense to a program best defensive scoreless streak of 631:57 this year. She finished the year with one assist and three shots.
 
Busby was named Missouri Valley Conference Goalkeeper of the Year in 2014, her second time receiving the honor (2012). She was also named to MVC First Team in 2014, the second time she has received the honor (2012). Busby was named MVC Goalkeeper of the Week two times this season. She led the Purple Aces to the MVC Championship match this season with a program record 9 solo shutouts and program record 13 total shutouts. Her nine shutouts this season give Busby 20 career shutouts, a new program record. She had a personal best, and program record stretch of 586:57 without allowing a goal this season and guided a program record period of 631:57 without yielding a goal. Busby's goals against average of .621 and saves percentage of .857 were both best in the MVC this season, the third year in a row she has led the Valley in both statistics. Her goals against average and saves percentage this season both ranked 19th in the country.
