Perfect Game Release

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The preseason honors continue to roll in for University of Evansville junior Kyle Freeland, as he was named the Preseason Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year and named the top prospect in the MVC by Perfect Game, in the publication's annual MVC preview that was released Friday afternoon.
 
Freeland, who was named to Baseball America's Preseason All-America Second Team earlier this preseason, was joined by fellow junior Kevin Kaczmarski on Perfect Game's preseason all-conference squad. 
 
In addition, a trio of Aces were listed among the publication's Top 20 draft prospects for the MVC.  Freeland claimed the No. 1 spot, while Kaczmarski came in at No. 12 and senior Sam Johns was slotted No. 16.
 
Evansville opens its 2014 campaign Friday, Feb. 14, when it travels to Lipscomb for a three-game set with the Bisons.  The Aces' first home series is slated for Feb. 28-Mar. 2 against Western Illinois, while UE opens conference play by hosting in-state rival Indiana State March 21-23.
