EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville baseball team has altered its midweek schedule, as the Purple Aces have postponed their Tuesday game with Austin Peay due to forecasted inclement weather in the Evansville area and will now play a doubleheader with the Governors in Clarksville, Tenn., on Wednesday beginning at 4 p.m., at Raymond C. Hand Park.
Evansville (12-7) enters the non-conference matchups, after opening its Missouri Valley Conference schedule by taking two games of a three-game set with in-state rival Indiana State last weekend at Braun Stadium. The Aces captured the opener, 5-2, before falling to the Sycamores, 4-1, Saturday, but rebounded to win the series with a 5-2 victory in Sunday's series finale. Junior
Boomer Synek led UE offensively on the weekend by going 5-for-9 with a triple, three walks and five runs scored. Fellow junior
Kevin Kaczmarski finished the set 3-for-10 with a pair of doubles and an RBI, while sophomore Jonathan Ramon drove in five runs in the series.

Evansville is hitting .263 as a team with 40 extra-base hits for a .343 slugging percentage and is reaching base at a .367 clip. The Aces have stolen 28 bases in 35 chances and are fielding .968, collectively. Individually, Jyawook leads UE with a .338 batting average and .443 on-base percentage, and ranks second on the team with 15 RBI. Junior
Kyle Pollock also boasts a .338 mark with three doubles, a triple, a home run and 10 RBI, and Kaczmarski is slugging a team-best .493 with 10 doubles, two triples and a team-leading 16 RBI.
The Evansville pitching staff has combined for a 3.70 ERA and has tallied 123 strikeouts against just 54 walks in 168.0 innings and is limiting opposing hitters to a .279 average. Junior
Matt Rodgers will take the mound for game one Wednesday afternoon for the Aces and enters the game with a 3-0 record and 2.65 ERA. Rodgers has made six appearances for UE this season, including two starts, and has recorded 18 strikeouts around just one walk in his 17.1 innings of work. Freshman
Jimmy Ward will get the starting nod in game two and will bring a 0-2 record and 10.38 ERA into the contest.
Austin Peay (9-13) dropped two of three games in an Ohio Valley Conference series at Jacksonville State over the weekend, as the Governors won the opener, 6-1, before suffering, 7-2 and 9-7, setbacks in the final two games of the series.
APSU is hitting .255 as a team with .407 slugging percentage, including 39 doubles, 10 triples and 17 homers. The Governors have posted a .366 on-base percentage and are 25-for-36 on the base paths with a .940 fielding percentage. Alex Robles is the only Austin Peay player hitting over .300, as he enters Tuesday night's game with a .386 average with six doubles, two triples and a long ball for a .542 slugging mark. Rolando Gautier and Ridge Smith are both hitting .277 for the Govs and Smith has driven in a team-high 19 runs. P.J. Torres and Logan Gray have each notched 16 RBI and have combined for seven home runs.
Austin Peay's pitching staff has combined for a 5.96 ERA, 135 strikeouts, 123 walks and a .298 opposing batting average in 193.1 innings. Ryan Quick, who has made five starts this season, is schedule to toe the rubber for the Governors for game one and enters the game with a 1-2 record and 7.36 ERA. Quick has struck out eight and walked 17 in his 22.0 innings this season and opponents are hitting .348 against him. Mark Hendrick is slated to get the start for APSU in the nightcap and is 0-0 with a 3.60 ERA in four previous appearances, including one start. Hendrick has tossed 5.0 innings, recording one strikeout and three walks.
Evansville leads the all-time series with Austin Peay, 38-22-2, but the Governors swept the Aces in a doubleheader last season in Clarksville, Tenn., by taking the opener, 3-1, and the nightcap, 3-2.
