EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Summer collegiate baseball leagues are now in full swing and all University of Evansville players participating in summer leagues have now officially started their seasons. Four Purple Aces have yet to experience a loss this summer, as the Hamilton Joes are off to a perfect 6-0 start in the Great Lakes League. Devin Williams is hitting .364 for the Joes with three RBI and a pair of doubles, while Jimmy Ward has allowed just one run in 3.1 innings of relief for a 2.70 ERA.
In the professional ranks, Kyle Lloyd was roughed up a bit in his start this week for the Fort Wyane TinCaps (Class A - San Diego), as he allowed five runs on eight hits in 5.1 innings in a no decision at Bowling Green (June 7). Lloyd recorded six strikeouts in the outing and issued three walks, while giving up a pair of home runs. For the season, Lloyd is 2-1 with a 3.43 ERA and 51 strikeouts around 13 walks in 42.0 innings of work.
Eric Stamets is hitting .323 in his last 10 games for the Arkansas Travelers (Double-A - Los Angeles Angels), as he lifted his average to .248 with four RBI and four stolen bases this season. Stamets recorded multiple hits against both Springfield (3-for-4) and Northwest Arkansas (2-for-3) this week, as Arkansas begins a four-game series with Tulsa on Wednesday night, who leads the Travelers by 4.5 games in the Texas League standings.
