Box Score Box Score (Printable)Photo GalleryEVANSVILLE, Ind. – After a scoreless first half, the University of Evansville women's soccer team found its offensive stride, scoring three goals in the second half to defeat visiting Austin Peay, 3-0, in its season opener Friday night at Arad McCutchan Stadium.

Sophomore
Bronwyn Boswell netted two of Evansville's (1-0-0) three goals, finding the back of the net in the 50th and 56th minutes. Junior
Holyn Marshall scored the Aces' third tally of the night, finishing a corner kick service in the 59th minute.

UE and Austin Peay (0-1-0) shared possession in the opening minutes of the contest, before Evansville gradually began to claim a majority of the offensive chances. The Aces' defensive unit limited the Lady Govs to just two first-half shots, while UE's offense managed six, but put just two on frame.

Evansville finally broke through in the second half, when Boswell got behind the APSU defense, after receiving a pass from freshman
Montana Portenier and slotting the ball inside the back for close range.

Boswell struck again just over six minutes later, when she collected a deflected cross inside the box and scored just eight yards out.

The Aces continued their attack and Marshall put an exclamation point on the victory by extending UE's lead to 3-0. Sophomore
Emily Richardson started the scoring chance by playing a corner kick to the back post, where fellow sophomore
Noor Medlej attempted a shot that deflected off of Marshall and into the back of the net.

On the night, Evansville posted a 13-5 shot advantage and limited Austin Peay to just three shots on goal. Boswell led the Aces with four shots and sophomore
Emily Griebel added two as a substitute.

Whitney Biggs combined for the clean sheet, as Busby made a pair of saves in 61 minutes of action and Biggs collected one save over the final 29 minutes of the match.

UE will continue its season-opening five-match home stand by hosting Saint Louis Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
