Bronwyn Boswell.
Â
Evansville (3-1-0) dominated possession and showed a dynamic offensive attack from the opening whistle, posting a 23-4 shot advantage and allowing just one Eastern Kentucky (2-1-0) shot to reach goalkeeper
Simone Busby. The shutout was the third of the season for the Aces and their second-straight clean sheet.

UE set the tone in the opening minute, when junior
Kayla Smith nearly scored just 50 seconds into the match. Smith broke through the Colonel defensive third and fired a low shot past EKU goalkeeper Anna Hall, but Smith's shot deflected off the far post and out of harm's way.
Â
Evansville would attempt 12 more shots in the opening 45 minutes, but the match would remain scoreless at the half, after the Aces forced Hall to make four first-half saves.
Â
The second half opened with UE creating several set piece opportunities, as Evansville earned five corner kicks in the first eight minutes of the second period, but the Eastern Kentucky successful defended all five attempts. The Aces' best chance during the corner kick flurry came in the 53rd minute, when
Allie Arguello sent a driving shot from 18 yards out to the far post, but Hall was able to make a diving save and keep UE off the scoreboard.
Â
Evansville eventually broke through with the game-winner just under 15 minutes later, when Boswell finished a cross from sophomore
Noor Medlej at the back post. Medlej gained possession on the right sideline, before making a turn and sending a well-placed cross to the back post, where Boswell was waiting and able to head the ball into the back of the net for her third goal of the season.

Freshman
Montana Portenier nearly added an insurance goal in the final minutes of the match, as she was able to create a breakaway opportunity, after dribbling through a host of Colonels. However, her one-on-one attempt was thwarted before she could get a shot off, as Hall aggressively came off of her line and took the ball off of the foot of Portenier.
Â
Eastern Kentucky had the final scoring chance of the afternoon, earning a corner kick in the final minute, but the Aces were able to deny the Colonels a shot at goal to preserve the win.
Â
Portenier led Evansville with six shots, Smith added five and Boswell bolstered the attack with four shot attempts.
Â
The Aces will be on the road for the first time this season Wednesday, Sept. 3, when they travel to UT Martin for a 6 p.m. match with the Skyhawks in Martin, Tenn.
