Women’s Soccer Travels to UT Martin for Midweek Match

EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
The University of Evansville women's soccer team will be on the road for the first time this season, when it travels to UT Martin Wednesday night for a 6 p.m. match at Skyhawk Field in Martin, Tenn.
 
Evansville (3-1-0) posted a pair of shutout victories over the weekend at Arad McCutchan Stadium, earning wins over Bowling Green and Eastern Kentucky.  The Purple Aces limited the Falcons to just two shots on goal in Friday's 2-0 win, before limiting the Colonels to a mere three shots and one shot on goal in a 1-0 triumph on Sunday.
 
Senior Tatiana Pagan and freshman Nicki Baham provided UE with its goals against BGSU, while sophomore Bronwyn Boswell notched her third goal of the year in the win over Eastern Kentucky, as Evansville posted a 44-14 shot advantage on the weekend.  In addition, junior goalkeeper Simone Busby tallied three saves to lower her goals against average to 1.14.
 
On the young season, the Aces have outscored their opponents, 7-4, allowing all four goals in a 4-1 loss to Saint Louis.  UE is attempting an average of 17.0 shots per game and has earned 21 corner kicks to its opponents 10.
 
Individually, Boswell leads Evansville with six points on three goals and ranks second on the team with 11 shots.  Junior Holyn Marshall has tallied four points on a pair of goals and sophomore Noor Medlej ranks third on the team with three points, coming on a team-high three assists.
 
Busby has tallied 10 saves in her four starts and enters Wednesday's match with a .714 save percentage and one solo shutout.  Sophomore Whitney Biggs has logged 45:35 between the posts and has made two saves without allowing a goal.
 
UT Martin (3-0-0) has opened its 2014 campaign with victories over Saint Louis, Bethel and Indiana State, marking the first time in program history the Skyhawks have opened a season with three-straight wins.  UTM defeated the Billikens, 3-2, in overtime, before topping Bethel and the Sycamores, 6-0 and 3-0, respectively.
 
UT Martin averages a robust 27.7 shots per game and has outscored its opponents, 9-1, in the first half.  The Skyhawks defense is conceding 11.7 shots per match and has allowed 14 shots on goal in its opening three contests.
 
Rinna Jarrett leads UTM offensively with 10 points on four goals and a pair of assists.  Jerrett has attempted a team-high 23 shots, putting 10 on goal.  Ashlie Watson has contributed three goals and two assists for eight points and Saphyr Coombs-James has added four points on a pair of goals.  In goal, Mariah Klenke has allowed two goals in 274:10 for a 0.66 goals against average to go with a .857 save percentage and two shutouts.
 
Evansville and UT Martin have met four previous times with the Aces holding a 2-1-1 advantage in the all-time series.  UE defeated the Skyhawks, 3-0, in last year's meeting at McCutchan Stadium and fell, 2-0, in the only meeting between the two sides in Martin during the 2010 season.
