EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Evansville junior
Simone Busby was named Missouri Valley Conference goalkeeper of the week on Tuesday afternoon.
Busby, a Chattanooga, Tenn. native, has now won back to back goalkeeper of the week awards in the MVC and has received the award three times this month (September 9, 23).
She has led the Purple Aces women's soccer team to seven solo shutouts and 10 total shutouts this season. The 10 shutouts for Evansville lead the nation and UE's .769 shutout percentage is sixth best in the country.
Busby and the backline have earned six consecutive shutouts, a program record, and have not yielded a goal in over 582 minutes.
She picked up her seventh solo shutout last weekend in a 1-0 win at Drake. Busby's personal scoreless streak stands at 537:52 after another clean sheet. She has a 0.56 goals against average and has a save percentage of .877. Busby and UE are now 8-3-2 this season.
Evansville is back in action when they host Illinois State on Saturday, October 4. The match will be held at Arad McCutchan Stadium and will begin at 1 p.m. Evansville is 6-1-0 at home this year.
