FT. Wayne, Ind. – The University of Evansville Women's Tennis team came through with a convincing 6-1 victory over the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies on Saturday afternoon. Kennedy Craig came through with a big victory at flight four singles. Craig won the first set 6-4, then lost the second set 2-6. Craig was able to come out in the third set and secure the win with a score of 6-1.
Oakland managed to take the doubles point by winning two out of the three doubles matches. At flight one doubles the Aces were victorious with Marketa Trousilova and Natasha James defeating Karine Celis and Camille Hemond-Hill by a score of 6-3. At flight two doubles Oakland's Tamara Blum and Elizabeth Guy were able to defeat Mina Milovic and Marina Moreno 6-4. The Golden Grizzlies were victorious again at flight three doubles with Cam Sabourin and Juliana Guevara defeating Andjela Brguljan and Kennedy Craig by a score of 7-5.
The Aces were victorious in all six singles matches. Starting with flight one single where Marketa Trousilova defeated Cam Sabourin 6-1, 7-5. Natasha James defeated Karine Celis by a score of 7-6 (3), 5-7, 7-5. At flight three singles Marina Moreno was victorious over Tamara Blum with a score of 6-2, 6-1. Mina Milovic was able to secure the victory at flight five singles 7-6 (6), 6-0. Finally at flight six singles Gaby Fifer came out with an impressive win over Juliana Guevara 6-1, 6-4.
The Aces are back in action tomorrow when they take on Ball State at 12:30 p.m. CT to wrap up the weekend.
