Evansville, IN– The University of Evansville Women's Softball Team (7-27, 1-8 MVC) fell to the Illinois State Redbirds on Sunday afternoon by a score of 11-5. The win for the Redbirds wraps up a three game sweep over the Aces. The Redbirds took game one and two on Saturday defeating the Aces by scores of 14-5 and 9-1.

Evansville got things going the exact same way that they got game one going against the Redbirds with a two run home run from Danielle Freeman making the score 2-0. The Redbirds responded with a solo home run of their own from Payton Billups in the top of the second.

After loading the bases in the top of the third, the Redbirds were able to draw a walk by Stephanie Gallant scoring Annie Heineman. Regan Romshek then scored off a sacrifice fly from Billups. Chandra Parr then responded in the bottom half of the inning with a solo home run to left field for the Aces making the score 3-3 heading into the fourth.

Lindsey Greene was able to score a run for the Redbirds in the top of the fourth when Romshek reached off an error. Gallant then hit a three run home run making the score 7-3 in favor of Illinois State.Â

The Aces were able to get a run in the bottom of the fifth when Mariah Ferguson singled through the left side scoring Chandra Parr. Illinois State grabbed another run in the top of the sixth off a Romshek home run. Michal Luckett singled up the middle scoring Ashlee Kawall for the Aces in the bottom of the sixth making the score 8-5 in favor of the Redbirds. Illinois State then grabbed three more runs in the top of the seventh to secure the 11-5 victory.

Evansville will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Missouri State. The Aces next home action will be on April 14
th when they take on Southern Illinois in a double header. Start times are slated for 3:00 p.m. CT and 5:00 p.m. CT.
