Evansville, IN– The University of Evansville Softball Team (10-34, 2-15 MVC) will be in action this weekend when they take on the Northern Iowa Panthers. The Aces will see only their third home stand of the season so far when they take on UNI. In 44 games this season only five of them have been at home for the Aces.

The Aces are most recently coming off a split doubleheader on Wednesday when they took on the Southern Illinois Salukis. The Salukis took game one by a score of 2-0. In game two, the Aces were able to grab the victory in walk off fashion when Courtney Land singled scoring two runs for the Aces to secure the win.

Danielle Freeman continues to be a force for the Aces. Freeman has participated in 24 of the 44 games played this season. Freeman is hitting .351 on the season and has a team high 10 homeruns with 22 RBIs. She has scored 15 runs along with 60 total bases. Freeman also currently has a .779 slugging percentage.

Chandra Parr continues to be a steady force for the Aces. She comes into the series with a batting average of .313. She has hit seven home runs and 18 RBIs. Parr has also scored a team high 31 runs and has accumulated a 67 total bases. Parr also is second on the team in walks with a total of 16 this season.

Northern Iowa comes into the series with a record of 15-22 and a conference mark of 9-7. The Panthers split a doubleheader with Drake this past Tuesday. UNI took game one by a score of 3-1 and Drake took game two by a score of 6-2. Last weekend, the Bradley Braves managed to take two out of three from the Panthers in a three game set.

At the plate, UNI is led by Rikki Alcaraz who hits a team leading .317 and has five homeruns along with 14 RBIs. Alcaraz also has a team leading eight doubles for the Panthers. The major power threat for the Panthers is Chelsea Ross. She only comes in hitting .176 but has a team leading six homeruns along with 18 RBIs.

Ross also serves as the ace of the Panthers pitching staff. Ross will come into the series against the Aces with a record of 12-12 and a 3.59 ERA. She has thrown a total of 138.1 innings this season and has 18 complete games to her credit. Ross also has 148 strikeouts versus 50 walks.

Game times are set for 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. CDT on Saturday with the series wrapping up on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. CDT. The Aces next home action will be on Tuesday when the Aces host a doubleheader with Murray State.
