EVANSVILLE, Ind. – With a 3-4 record in Missouri Valley Conference play this season, the University of Evansville women's tennis team has clinched the fifth seed and will play #4 Southern Illinois in the opening round of the MVC Women's Tennis Team Championship on Friday.
Evansville will host the tournament at Wesselman Park as the Aces will face the Salukis at 10 a.m. Also taking place at the same time on Friday will be top seeded Wichita State taking on the eight seed – Illinois State.
Later in the day, two more matches will begin at 2 p.m. No. 3 UNI faces No. 6 Bradley while second-seeded Drake faces Missouri State (7).
Earlier in the season, the Aces fell by a 4-3 final to the Salukis in the conference opener at Wesselman Park. That day, the top three singles flight for the Aces came through with victories. Marketa Trousilova, Natasha James and Kennedy Craig picked up wins in flights 1 through 3, respectively. Southern Illinois picked up wins in the fourth through sixth flights while sweeping doubles play to clinch the win.
Everyone is invited out to the tournament. Admission is free for the duration of the weekend.
