Evansville, IN – The University of Evansville Women's Tennis team (11-9, 3-4 MVC) will host the 2015 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Team Championship this weekend at Wesselman Park. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend.
Evansville will play their first match on Friday at 10:00 a.m. CDT versus Southern Illinois.
Round one will start on Friday with the first two matches starting at 10:00 a.m. CDT and the second two matches starting at 2:00 p.m. CDT. Saturday will commence day two with one match being played 10:00 a.m. CDT and the second match being played after at 2:00 p.m. CDT. The tournament will wrap up on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. CDT with the championship match.
In the event of inclement weather the tournament will be moved to ECTA North which is located at 5428 Davis Lant Drive, Evansville, IN 44715.
Day one will start with #1 seed Wichita State taking on #8 seed Illinois State and #4 seed Southern Illinois taking on #5 seed Evansville. The Salukis were able to defeat the Aces when they met earlier this season by a score of 4-3.
SIU was able to take two out of the three doubles matches against the Aces to secure the doubles point. The two teams then split the singles decision with UE taking flight 1,2, and 3 and SIU taking 4,5, and 6 to make the score 4-3 in favor of the Salukis.
Following those two matches, UNI, the #3 seed will take on the #6 seed, the Bradley Braves. Missouri State who is the #7 seed and Drake, the #2 seed, will wrap of day one with both of their matches slated to start at 2:00 p.m. CDT.
Evansville was able to finish their season off last weekend with back to back wins over Illinois State and Bradley. Last Saturday, which was senior day for the Aces, they were able to defeats the Redbirds by a score of 5-2. They turned right around the next day and took on Bradley and were able to defeat them 5-2 as well.
