Aces Softball Heads to Wichita State for Weekend Series

Evansville, IN –
The University of Evansville Softball Team (10-39, 2-17 MVC) heads to Wichita State for their last regular season road trip of the season for a three game series with the Shockers.  They will play a doubleheader on Saturday with game one set to start at 12:00 p.m. and game two at 2:00 p.m. CDT.  The series will wrap up their series at 12:00 CDT.
 
Danielle Freeman continues to lead the Aces at the plate.  The sophomore will come into the series hitting .358 with a team leading 12 homeruns and 26 RBIs.  Freeman, who is also member of the swim team, has achieved this feat in only 29 games.  Chandra Parr has stayed steady through her 44 games played this season.  Parr is currently hitting .308 with eight homeruns and 21 RBIs.  Parr is also tied for the team lead in walks this season.  Parr has a team leading .428 ob%.
 
Evansville is coming off a week where they lost a doubleheader at home by scores of 9-5 and 10-2.  The Aces then took on Southern Illinois on Wednesday and fell by a score of 4-3.
 
Wichita State comes into the series with a record of 29-21 and a conference record of 11-10.  The Shockers have won four of their last five which included two wins over Missouri State and taking two out of three games in their series against Bradley.
 
Brittany Fortner comes into the series with a team leading batting average of .429.  Fortner also boasts team highs in doubles (17), homeruns (9), RBIs (42), and walks (27).  Fortner has a slg% of .724.  Katie Malone leads the Shockers from the mound with a record 16-9 and an ERA of 3.53, both of which leads her team.  She has thrown a team high in innings with 172.2.  She also leads her team with 118 strikeouts this season.
 
When this series concludes, the Aces will come back home next weekend for their season finale against the Bradley Braves.
