Aces Volleyball back in action at Austin Peay on Tuesday

EVANSVILLE, Ind.
– Fresh off of a weekend that saw the University of Evansville volleyball team post a 2-1 mark, the Purple Aces are back in action on Tuesday with a trip to Clarksville, Tenn. to face Austin Peay.
 
Game time is slated for 6 p.m.  Evansville opened up its 2015 slate at the Holiday Inn Classic in Dayton, Ohio.  After taking victories over Tennessee Tech and Niagara in its first two tilts, the Aces fell to Wright State in the finale.
 
Senior Stephanie Cerino paced UE in its first weekend of play, earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team.  Cerino posted 32 kills, 18 digs and nine blocks while hitting .221.  Her top match came against Niagara as she tallied 13 kills and hit .323 in the victory.
 
Genesis Miranda also had a stellar start to the season, posting 52 kills, an average of 4.33 per set.  After tallying 12 in the opener, Miranda posted a career-best 22 kills versus Niagara.  She also added three service aces, six block assists and eight digs.  She finished the weekend with 18 more kills against Wright State along with her 11th block of the season.  Her weekend finished with 52 kills, 27 digs and 11 total blocks.
 
In her first weekend of collegiate volleyball, freshman Lizzie Giller got off to a strong start for UE.  She had the most accurate hitting effort for the team in its first three matches, hitting .349 while totaling 21 kills and 11 blocks.  Her career started off with 11 kills and four blocks in the season-opening win over Tennessee Tech.  She came back with six kills and seven blocks versus Niagara before wrapping up the weekend with four more kills against Wright State.
 
Austin Peay opened its season playing in a tournament hosted by Purdue.  The Governors fell in their three contests as they took on Ohio U., Purdue and VCU.  Saantha Strother was their top performer, notching a team-best 30 kills in their opening weekend.
