EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The University of Evansville women's tennis team makes the trip to Bloomington, Ill. this weekend for the Missouri Valley Conference Individuals. Aces Insider Joe Downs has a preview.Â

Gregory Street Tennis Courts will be the host facility for the tournament, which begins on Saturday and goes through Monday. Participants include: Bradley, Drake, Illinois State, Missouri State, UNI and Valparaiso. Stony Brook will also be playing in the event.
Championship Central - Draws
The draws have been released for the tournament and feature Diana Tkachenko at #1 singles, taking on Valparaiso's Claire Czerwonka. Chieko Yamada is in flight two and will face Jelena Vujanic of the Crusaders while Daria Pentsova will take part in flight three, beginning against MSU's Phoebe Boeschen.

Andrea Pascual-Larrinaga is UE's representative in the fourth flight. She takes on Malini Wijesinghe of Bradley in the opening round. Nicoli Pereira faces UNI's Valentina Caro at #5 singles while the sixth flight will see Theodora Soldatou facing the Panthers' Savanna Hunt. Leah Helpingstine is set to take on Amanda Foo of Stony Brook in flight seven. Evansville's doubles units include Soldatou and Yamada in flight one, Pentsova and Tkachenko at #2 and Pereira and Pascual-Larrinaga in the third spot.

Three finals finished in favor of the Purple Aces as the squad completed the Evansville Metro Collegiate Invite at Wesselman Park on Sunday afternoon. At #1 singles, it was a battle between Diana Tkachenko and Chieko Yamada. Tkachenko pulled off the win in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, on her way to the championship.

Daria Pentsova took care of business in the second flight. Squaring off against Ashley Jonathan of Bellarmine, Pentsova won, 6-3, 6-3. Another all Aces contest took place in the third flight between Andrea Pascual-Larrinaga and Marie Kapelevich as Pascual-Larrinaga was able to get the win, 6-2, 6-3. Nicoli Pereira dropped her finals contests versus Bellarmine's Marissa Kovach, 6-2, 6-3 in the fourth flight.

Theodora Soldatou came home in third place in #5 singles, defeating UT Martin's Suzanna Stapler, 6-0, 6-4. The top doubles finish for UE came in the second flight as Pascual-Larrinaga and Pereira took second place, falling to UT Martin in the final. Flight 1 saw UE earn a 6-1 win over Belmont with Yamada and Soldatou getting the victory. In the fifth flight, Kapelevich and Leah Helpingstine got past USI, 6-2.
