Box Score WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - In a battle for every point possible, the University of Evansville women's soccer team earned an important point a 0-0 double-overtime draw with Drake on the road in West Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday evening.
"I thought we battled tonight for the full 110," said Aces' women's soccer head coach Krista McKendree. "We needed to keep possession more, but we limited their good looks, which is key. Extremely valuable point that keeps us in a good position."
The opening half featured few offensive chances for either team as the two sides combined for three shots in the half. Drake recorded its lone shot of the period in the 18th minute as a header on-goal was saved by Aces' sophomore goalkeeper Michaela Till. In the 25th minute, sophomore Jayme-Lee Hunter tallied Evansville's first shot as Hunter's attempt missed wide. Freshman Emily Wolak looked to give the Aces the lead heading towards halftime as Wolak's shot on-goal was saved by the Bulldogs as UE and Drake went to the half tied, 0-0.

Early portions of the second frame mimicked that of the first half as the first shot on-goal from either team came in the 68th minute. With back-to-back shots on-goal, Evansville saw a pair of opportunities by freshmen Emily Ormson and Alex Eyler be stopped by Drake in the 68th and 71st minutes. In the final 19 minutes of regulation, the Bulldogs' sent five shots the Aces' way with two coming on-frame as Till saved both to send the match into the first overtime.
Till continued her strong performance in goal in the first overtime period, making two saves in the 95th and 98th minutes to keep the Drake off the scoreboard. In the period, the Bulldogs' out-shot the Aces, 3-0, but Evansville was able to prevent Drake from ending the match in the first overtime.
After Drake had a shot saved by Till in the opening minute of the second overtime period, it was the Aces who went on the offensive. In the 107th and 108th minutes, UE recorded a pair of chances that were on-goal, but Drake was able keep the Aces from finding their game-winning goal as Evansville and the Bulldogs played to a scoreless draw.
Leading the Aces attack were a pair of freshmen in Alex Eyler and Emily Wolak who each ahd two shots with both coming on-goal. Between the posts, Till amassed her fourth shutout of the season, making six saves in 110 minutes in goal for the Aces in the draw.
Next up for Evansville is a midweek trip to Missouri State for a matchup with the Bears on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m..
