EVANSVILLE, Ind. - After an upset in the opening round, the University of Evansville women's soccer team travels to Chicago for a matchup with No. 2 seed Drake in the semifinals of the 2018 Missouri Valley Conference Championship.
"For us, it's tournament time so everybody knows that anything can happen in the tournament," said Aces' women's soccer head coach Krista McKendree. "So for us, it's just about getting ourselves in that position in the tournament to put our best foot forward to try to go as far as we can."
The Purple Aces advanced to the semifinals with a 3-2 advantage in PKs over third-seeded UNI after playing a scoreless 110 minutes. In the seventh round of PKs, freshman Amanda DaSilva converted her attempt, putting it off the cross bar and in. Needing a goal to continue the match, UNI had its try saved by sophomore goalkeeper Michaela Till, earning Evansville a berth in the semifinals.

Evansville and Drake are meeting for the 22nd time with the Bulldogs holding an 11-9-1 advantage in the series history. In this year's regular season meeting, the Aces and Bulldogs played to a 0-0 draw after 110 minutes of action. Drake finished the regular season 8-8-1 overall and 5-1-1 in MVC play, finishing second in the MVC standings and receiving an opening round by in the championship. Offensively, the Bulldogs are led by Olivia Bruce who has scored four goals on 16 shots for Drake this season. Drake has spread the offense around this season with 10 other Bulldogs scoring at least once this year, including Alison Walls who has three goals on the season and Alyssa Brand who has scored twice. In goal, Kelsie Stone has played all 1,562 minutes for Drake, recording a 0.98 goals-against average with 86 saves in 2018.
