EVANSVILLE, Ind. – On Thursday evening, the University of Evansville men's basketball squad teamed up with the EVSC and Academy Sports to help make the Christmas season better for local children.
Over 10 children participated in the event, which saw them paired up with Aces basketball players to go on a shopping spree. Each child received a $100 gift card to pick out whatever they wanted inside the store.

"I am grateful to the EVSC and Academy Sports for helping to make this a reality," UE head coach Walter McCarty said. "It means a lot to be able to give back and help these children to have a great Christmas."
The UE players had an enjoyable time working with the children to pick out items from sneakers and apparel to bikes, basketballs and much more.
"It is very special, when I was little looking up to the UE basketball players and to see myself becoming one has been really great," sophomore Devan Straub said. "Now these kids are looking up to us and we have the opportunity to help them out and influence them. It is a great feeling to be able to do this."
