EVANSVILLE, Ind. - With the weather forecast predicting rain in the Evansville area Tuesday, the University of the Evansville baseball team has altered it's scheduled home-and-home series with the University of Tennessee-Martin. The Purple Aces will now play Tuesday game at Skyhawk Baseball Field in Martin, Tenn., with the Skyhawks making the trip to Braun Stadium on May 8th. First pitch for both games is set for 6 p.m. central time.Â
UE, losers of six straight, heads into this mid-week encounter on a six game losing streak, having been swept by Florida Gulf Coast University and the University of Iowa on successive weekends. The Aces are now 5-11 so far in 2018.
Evansville is paced at the plate by sophomore infielder/outfielder Troy Beilsmith, who's batting .316 and is currently in the Missouri Valley Conference's top ten in slugging percentage with a .596 mark. Beilsmith had a solid weekend, highlighted by a 3-run home run against Iowa on Saturday afternoon.
The Skyhawks are 5-14 on the season, after a series loss in their conference opener against Southeast Missouri State, taking Friday's opener from the Redhawks, 8-7, then falling 17-1 and 8-7 on Saturday and Sunday respectively.Â
