EVANSVILLE, Ind. - An already super signing season for the University of Evansville baseball team, got even better today, as Head Coach Wes Carroll announced six new additions to his bumper crop of recruits. They come as far away as Saskatchewan, Canada and Miami, Florida, and as close as one block away from Charles H. Braun Stadium.

"Coach Cody Fick and Coach Jake Mahon did an outstanding job adding six more student-athletes to the 2018 class", said Carroll. "We are going to welcome another big class full of talent to compete in an Aces uniform next year. This class fills all of our needs to compete in the MVC." 

Daniel Borgstrom - Morris, IL; Morris HS INF
"I'm excited for Danny to come into our program and develop. His athleticism, arm strength, and left handed bat are going to give him multiple avenues into the lineup. Danny has always hit and his versatility in the field backed by arm strength will play in his favor to develop early. Danny is an excellent student and high character young man. I'm excited to see him in uniform." Coach Mahon

Yoanny Carrizo - Doral, FL; Miami Britto HS
"Yoanny comes to us all the way from Miami, Florida. Yoanny has incredible defensive ability and a strong arm that will allow him to compete early at shortstop in a Purple Aces uniform. He has a solid middle of the field approach at the plate and squares balls up consistently. He was the 2017 2A-8 Player of the Year where he hit .500 at Brito Miami Private School."  Coach Mahon

AJ Fritz - Lebanon, OH; Lebanon HS RHP/OF
"AJ is a great 2-way athlete that will help us in the OF and on the mound.  He has a chance to make an immediate impact on the mound with his plus secondary pitch.  At the plate, he has a smooth swing with power potential.  We are thrilled to welcome AJ to the team." Coach Carroll

Shane Gray - West Jefferson, OH; West Jefferson HS RHP
  "Shane has shown the ability to have high levels of success against his high school competition. He has thrown two no hitters up to this point in his senior season.  We look for him to build of that success when he steps on campus a freshmen.  Shane has the ability to spin a good breaking ball and throws a heavy fastball." Ben Komonosky - Regina, SK Canada; North Iowa Area Community College
"Ben is a solid defender behind the dish with experience catching quality arms at the junior college level.  At the plate he has shown the ability to drive the baseball and produce runs from the middle of the lineup." Coach Fick

Caleb Meeks - Evansville, IN; Memorial HS OF/RHP
"Caleb is a great addition to the UE baseball family.  He is a talented 2-way player that will make an impact both as a RHP and a pure hitter.  I look forward to Caleb coming on campus next fall."  Coach Carroll
