EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Since beginning her college career with the Purple Aces women's golf team, Giulia Mallmann has worked to gain experience in the professional world.  This effort was highlighted by the opportunity to work at the 2016 Olympic Game in Rio de Janeiro.

This month, Mallmann continued her work at the next level, serving as a tournament operations assistant at the Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia.

"I applied for the position back in early March while I was on the road in Arkansas participating in one of UE's golf tournaments," Mallmann explained.  Within two days, I got a response and had my interview on Easter Sunday."

"This position was a good fit for me.  It is similar to Rio de Janeiro when I worked with operations of the golf course in the Olympics while also working with sponsors, staff and everyone else to make sure tournament was good for everyone to enjoy."

Her work at the Greenbrier ran from May through July and was capped off by an exciting PGA Tour event over the 4th of July called "A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier".  With the timing of the tournament, the resort incorporated the military into its events in several different ways.  This included: honoring military members at the tournament, fireworks, a presidential visit, having a general take the honorary first shot of the tournament and much more.  Mallmann summarized her time working at the resort and also at the PGA Tour event

"The people I worked with were amazing and made me feel welcome.  Our job was to put on the best event possible for the FedEx Cup," she said.  "It was an honor to be part of such a great tribute to those who gave their lives.  It was just a great experience."

"I was a tournament operations assistant with the tournament management staff at the resort and worked closely with them to make sure they were in standards for the FedEx Tour Championship," Mallmann explained.  "With operations, it was mainly a job where we had to make sure standards of PGA Tour were met – grandstands, skyboxes, golf carts, player services and all sponsor services were met.  Throughout the tournament, we did whatever we could for them and made sure that the players, sponsors, guests and vendors all had a great experience."

Prior to the tournament, Mallmann and the staff at The Greenbrier spent two months ensuring that everything was set and that all operations and services were in place for the tournament.  Immediately after her graduation from the University of Evansville, Mallmann began her work at the resort.

"I am so thankful for the world experiences I have gotten at UE," Mallmann exclaimed.  "Career services are phenomenal.  Without the help of them and everyone at UE, I would not have had these types of experiences."

With the Greenbrier experience complete, Mallmann is set to begin the next phase of her life.  In the coming weeks, she will be starting a new full-time position in the golf industry.
