EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Following a weekend off from competition, the University of Evansville women's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday night against UT Martin at 6:30 p.m. in Martin, Tenn..

"Another physical battle. I think all the teams on our schedule are very similar in a sense that they can all grind out results," said Aces women's soccer head coach Krista McKendree. "It's about us showing up. It's not easy to play on the road, but we've got to come out with some energy and some excitement and be able to compete for 90 minutes."

The Purple Aces head south after dropping a home contest to Western Kentucky last Thursday, 4-1, at Arad McCutchan Stadium. The Hilltoppers opened the scoring in eighth minute and scored again in the 30th minute to take a 2-0 lead to the half before adding a pair of goals in the second frame. For the Aces, sophomore Jayme-Lee Hunter scored her second goal of the season, giving her six in her UE career.

Evansville and UT Martin are meeting for the ninth time in series history with the Skyhawks holding a 4-3-1 record in the eight previous matchups. In the last meeting, the Aces earned a 2-1 victory over the Skyhawks at Arad McCutchan Stadium on Aug. 20, 2018. Evansville's three wins in the series have come by a combined 12-1 score, while UT Martin's four wins in the series have been by a combined score of  8-2.

The Skyhawks head into Wednesday's matchup with a 2-1 record and are coming off a record-setting 10-0 win over Jackson State on Sunday afternoon. In UT Martin's weekend win, Jaden Hildreth recoded the fourth hat trick in Skyhawk history. UT Martin outshot the Tigers, 38-2, in the match with 22 Skyhawk shots coming on-goal.
