Box Score EVANSVILLE, Ind. - After scoring three goals in four matches to start the season, the University of Evansville women's soccer team saw its offense find its rhythm as the Purple Aces earned a 3-0 triumph over Tennessee Tech at Arad McCutchan Stadium on Friday night.
"Our energy was really good from the get go to be able to play at home good," said Aces women's soccer head coach Krista McKendree. "I would say we've played better on the road than we have at home this year, which is not normally the case, so for us to come out with some energy and some attacking prowess and be able to kind of put them on the back foot early, I think was very good."
A light drizzle before the match and in the early moments of the contest slowed the early portion of the match as both teams attempted to find their footing. In the 19th minute, senior Sara Osinski slid a through ball to sophomore Jayme-Lee Hunter. Seeing an Ace entering the box, Hunter wasted little time distributing a through ball to the feet of junior Maggie Leazer. Following the pass, Leazer chipped the ball over the keeper and into the net to provide UE with an early 1-0 lead.

Evansville recorded four more shots before the half following the goal, but could not find a second tally. In the second half, the Golden Eagles continued to prevent the Aces from adding to their advantage and looked to pose a scoring threat themselves. TTU pushed forward, but Evansville resisted, holding on to its one-goal lead. With less than 10 minutes left in regulation, the Aces found their second goal as junior Samantha Brown whipped a ball into the box. The ball slipped past a Golden Eagle and ended up at the feet of freshman Emily Wolak, who wasted little time before finishing it to provide UE with a 2-0 advantage.
The Aces added a third and final goal in the 87th minute as freshman Emily Ormson dribbled past a defender and let go of a shot from inside the box. The shot skipped off the grass and slipped past the Golden Eagles keeper as UE pushed its lead to three-goals as Evansville captured the 3-0 victory.
All three goals in the match were the first collegiate goals of their respective goal-scorers' careers.
Ormson and senior Molly Lear each led Evansville with three shots on the night with Lear owning the 2-1 lead on shots on-goal. Spending all 90 minutes between the posts, sophomore Michael Till recorded the second shutout of her collegiate career, making two saves in the match.
"The talk coming in was just keep our heads high," said Aces freshman Emily Wolak. "After three losses it's a tough thing to deal with, but we kept our energy up, we kept our positivity up, and we knew we had to win tonight."
Evansville is back in action on Sunday as the Aces begin a three-match roadtrip beginning with a contest with Miami (Ohio) in Oxford, Ohio on Sunday at Noon.
