EVANSVILLE, Ind. – One major box has been checked for Purple Aces head men's basketball coach Walter McCarty as the full schedule for his inaugural season is fully in place.  The full slate, including Missouri Valley Conference games, was officially released on Tuesday and is available on GoPurpleAces.com.
 
"It is great to see where we are going to be and have it finished," McCarty exclaimed.  "We can start to get our travel plans together and know what to expect.  It's a great challenge ahead for us and time to get to work."
 
Coach McCarty's pedigree includes both playing and coaching at the top college and professional levels and he has high praise for the MVC and what his team will be in for night in and night out.
 
"Every night in the Missouri Valley Conference is a dog fight.  Many of the teams are getting better this year," he said.  "All of the teams are coached very well and we have our work cut out for us.  It is going to be a fun season and will be really competitive.  There will be great basketball played in this conference from top to bottom."
 
With the MVC set to be as competitive as ever, McCarty worked with the UE athletic administration to set up a competitive schedule that would get his young team ready for the challenges that the Valley presents.  He is confident that a pre-conference slate that includes Illinois, Xavier, Jacksonville State, Ball State and Murray State will give his team valuable experience.
 
"Being able to play these really good programs early in the season will be good for us.  We won't be going from playing teams that you beat by 20 or 30 points in non-conference to a top level Valley team such as Loyola where the talent is significantly different," McCarty said.
 
"With the schedule that we have, it will give us a good sense of where we are and the type of talent we will face in the Valley every time out."
