EVANSVILLE, Ind.– In a full effort from the University of Evansville athletic programs, the Purple Aces spread holiday cheer around Evansville Thursday.

"We had 115 student-athletes take a break from preparing for their upcoming final exams,"  UE Senior Associate AD for Internal Operations Sarah Solinsky said, "to read to over 1,000 elementary students in our community. Our student-athletes understand the importance of helping others and their community."

Student-athletes from all 17 UE sports volunteered to take part in 2019 Holiday Reading Day. Student-athletes visited and read books to over 1,000 elementary students.

The crew visited Lodge Community School, Vogel Elementary, Hebron Elementary and Delaware Elementary.
Â
Toys were also purchased by the student-athletes as part of a continuing partnership with Toys for Tots.
