EVANSVILLE, Ind. - With three straight winning weekends, the University of Evansville baseball team rolls into its belated Braun Stadium opener against Creighton with new-found confidence. Above .500 for the first time this season, the Aces (7-6) face a Blue Jays squad coming off a midweek two-game road sweep of Saint Louis. Creighton comes into this weekend 7-3 on the season.

SETTING THE SCENE: • The Purple Aces (7-6) are coming off their third straight series win, bouncing back from 18-7 loss to Iowa last Saturday, sweeping the Hawkeyes in Sunday's doubleheader sweep, 6-0 and 3-1.Â
THE OPPOSITION: • Creighton (7-3) has been battling the elements as well as the opposition in the early part of the season. Six of the Blue Jays games have been canceled, so far. Creighton did manage to get in a two game sweep of Saint Louis in a mid-week series earlier this week.Â
THE STARTING ROTATION: • The Aces will open the weekend with junior right-hander Adam Lukas taking the hill for UE. After getting his first victory of the season, Lukas got roughed up by Iowa in the series opener this past weekend in Marion, Illinois, giving up nine runs, eight earned in three innings of work. The Blue Jays will counter with senior right hander Mitch Ragan.
On Saturday, the Aces will send out junior left-hander Nathan Croner for his fifth start of the season. The southpaw earned his third victory of the season last Sunday, tossing seven innings of shutout work against the Hawkeyes, allowing giving up just two hits and striking out seven in Evansville's 6-0 victory. Creighton senior left-hander Denson Hull will oppose Croner.
Then, on Sunday, the Aces will give senior left-hander Alex Weigand his third start of the season. The senior southpaw got a no decision in a "spot start" against Iowa this past Sunday, going 3 2/3 innings, allowing one, scattering five hits, while striking out a pair.The Blue Jays will send out senior righty Evan Johnson.Â
