EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Fresh off their thunderous 10-2 road victory over Xavier this past Sunday, the University of Evansville baseball team will look to build momentum towards the upcoming Missouri Valley Conference schedule when they play host to Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville Wednesday night at Charles H. Braun Stadium.
LIVE STATS
With ten victories already in their satchel and with March not yet over, the Aces have nearly as many wins as they had for all of the 2018 campaign, when they managed just 12. Part of UE's turnaround can be credited to the added infusion of new talent from head coach Wes Carroll's latest recruiting class, led at the plate by freshman second baseman Danny Borgstrom, who is currently tops on the team in RBIs with 18 and second on the team in batting average at .329. On the hill, the Aces have also been helped by newcomers, as freshmen RHP Shane Gray, LHP Michael Parks and RHP Garrett Presko. All three have dazzled out of the bullpen so far this season.
The Cougars come into Wednesday's non-conference showdown with a record of 8-13 on the season, with a 4-5 mark in the Ohio Valley Conference, after shutting out Saint Louis Wednesday night in Edwardsville. SIU-E is led at the plate by Jack Rigoni, who is tops on the team in batting at a .321 clip, while
Raul Elguezabal leads the Cougars in RBIs with 19.
First pitch from Braun Stadium is set for 6 p.m.
