PEORIA, Ill. - With a strong non-conference schedule in the rear-view mirror, the University of Evansville baseball team begins Missouri Valley Conference play this weekend with a three game series against Bradley at Dozer Park in Peoria, Illinois.

SERIES NOTES

SETTING THE SCENE: • The Purple Aces (11-9) are coming off back-to-back wins, taking the series fi nale at Xavier, 10-2, then outslugging SIU-Edwardsville 9-5 in a midweek match-up Wednesday night.

THE OPPOSITION: • Bradley (12-7) have been on a hot streak of late, winning 4-of-their-last-5, including a 7-1 victory over MacMurray Wednesday night at home. THE

STARTING ROTATION: • The Aces will open the weekend with junior right-hander Adam Lukas taking the hill for UE. Lukas is coming off a start that saw him lifted after four innings due to tightness in the back. Despite leaving with a 7-4 lead, Lukas watched the bullpen lose it in an 11-8 loss to Xavier. Bradley will counter with right-hander Mitch Janssen On Saturday, the Aces will send out junior left-hander Nathan Croner for his seventh start of the season. The southpaw had his four game-winning streak halted at Xavier last weekend, as he took the loss in a 5-2 setback. Bradley will counter with left-hander Brooks Grosswein. Then, on Sunday, the Aces will give senior left-hander Alex Weigand his fi fth start of the season. Last weekend, Weigand delivered arguably the best start of his career against Xavier, going fi ve innings, allowing just one run on six hits, while striking out four. Bradley will counter with right-hander Sam Lund.

ALL-TIME SERIES: • The Aces and Bradley have a long history crossing paths on the diamond, with Evansville holding the all-time series edge, leading 52-41. However, Bradley swept the Aces off Braun Stadium last season.
