ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Missouri Valley Conference has named University of Evansville baseball's sophomore first baseman Tanner Craig the MVC Player of the Week. The Scottsburg, Indiana native had a big week at the dish for the Aces, breaking out of his early season doldrums with team-highs in batting average (.474), RBI (8) and slugging percentage (.684). The high point came on Sunday, when he went 3-for-5 while driving three runs, including the eventual game-winner in the Aces' 6-4 sweep-sealing victory over Bradley.Â
"Tanner had a big weekend for our offense", said University of Evansville baseball head coach Wes Carroll. " It was great tp him step up and have some big RBI hits."
Craig has rocketed to the top of the Evansville heap in RBI for the season with 24 and is now second on the team in batting average, at a .307 clip.
Junior pitchers Nathan Croner and Adam Lukas won back to back MVC Pitcher of the Week honors in March.
The Aces are back in action at home against Tennessee-Martin Wednesday night. First pitch from Charles H. Braun Stadium is set for 6 p.m.
