EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The University of Evansville baseball team will look to put this past weekend's unpleasant trip to Carbondale in the rear-view mirror when they play host to Murray State Tuesday night at Charles H. Braun Stadium.
The Aces are coming off a rough weekend that saw them get swept out of Itchy Jones Stadium by Southern Illinois, dropping them below .500 for the first time since the first month of the season, at 21-22 overall, while falling to 8-7 in Missouri Valley Conference play. The Racers have also found themselves struggling of late, losers of four straight, including a weekend road sweep at the hands of Morehead State. Murray State sports a record of 19-25 overall, and 13-11 in Ohio Valley Conference play.
The last time these two teams met, the Aces took a slug-fest from the Racers, 16-12, at Reagan Field in Murray, Kentucky on April 16.
The pitching matchup features senior left-hander Alex Weigand (2-5, 5.53 ERA) facing off against junior southpaw Jase Carvell (0-3, 5.95 ERA).
First pitch from Braun Stadium is at 6 p.m.
