EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The long-awaited trip to Europe for the University of Evansville men's basketball team is on tap this week.  The Purple Aces travel on Tuesday afternoon and are set to arrive in England on Wednesday morning.

Follow GoPurpleAces.com along with the UE men's basketball social media accounts for full coverage throughout the trip.  Each day, 1-2 players on the team will give you an update on what the team has been doing and how the experience is going.  During the games, video highlights and photos will be posted as well as interviews with coaches and players following the contests.

Aces head coach Walter McCarty is excited for the trip and outlined his goals for the excursion.

"I think we have had some good practices leading up to this trip and the guys are really playing the right way and developing some chemistry," McCarty said.  "Our number goal is to stay healthy and just see how we measure up as far as seeing how teams are going to play us."

"It will be interesting to see the different ways they choose to play us and allow us to make different reads, which can help us in the future. The third thing is for our guys just to have a really good time and continue to be connected. This opportunity will help us be a really close team and to continue to develop trust and a brotherhood that is going to help us deep into the season."

UE opens the trip with a day at Harlaxton and will experience what it is like for their fellow students who study abroad.  The first on-court action of the trip will be on Saturday evening with a game against the London Lions.  Game two will take place on Monday in Belgium versus Gembo Borgerhout.  The final game will be on Wednesday night with a tilt against Parisian Select.  A daily blog will capture the action on and off the court on GoPurpleAces.com while the social media accounts will give you an in-depth look at the team's experience.

"It is really important because we will get to play against guys who are very strong and that can be a big challenge for them. I think this is going to be a huge indicator and allow them to take the next step. It will be great to play against some different competition.  This experience will help us in all areas and I am excited to see where we are at," McCarty added.
