Game Two Blog - Aces versus Gembo Borgerhout

ANTWERP, Belgium - It has already been an adventure for the Purple Aces men's basketball team on their way from Ghent to Antwerp.  What should normally be an hour drive turned into 2 1/2 hours.  The team departed Ghent at 5:15 p.m. local time for the contest, but a major accident left the city of Antwerp at a traffic standstill.  UE arrived at Sporthal Luisbekelaar just before 7:45 p.m. and is currently warming up.  Originally set for an 8 p.m. start time, it has been pushed back to 8:30 p.m. as the referees were also impacted on their way to the gym.
8:25 p.m. - Tip is just under five minutes away.  The starters tonight remain the same from game one in London - DeAndre Williams, Sam Cunliffe, Art Labinowicz, K.J. Riley and John Hall.
4:29 1Q - Aces lead Gembo 15-10. Frederking with a three and Labinowicz has an and-one.
6:19 2Q - UE 37, Gembo 16 - DeAndre Williams and Noah Frederking doing well so far.
3:30 2Q - UE 42, Gembo 19 - John Hall had consecutive drives tonthe basket to extend the lead.
Halftime report - Evansville leads Gembo by a score of 48-27.  DeAndre Williams has 17 points and 8 rebounds while Noah Frederking is excelling from long range, hitting three of his five tries on his way to 11 points.  John Hall finished the half with five.
2:30 3Q - UE 58, Gembo 47 - Another triple from Frederking followed by a Williams bucket pushes the lead back to 11.
End 3Q - UE 61, Gembo 54 - Shamar Givance with three free throw makes late in the third quarter.
4:59 4Q - UE 71, Gembo 68 - Gembo clawing back, shooting lights out in fourth quarter.
1:20 4Q - UE 80, Gembo 78 - Gembo going to the line with a chance to tie it up.
FINAL - UE 83, Gembo 81 - DeAndre Williams finished with 32 points while Noah Frederking tallied 19.  Shamar Givance and John Hall posted seven each.
