EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Week four of the 2020 season will see the University of Evansville softball team travel to Memphis, Tenn. for the Blues City Classic.

Evansville opens up with North Alabama on Friday before facing Northern Illinois and Northwestern State on Saturday and Memphis on Sunday.

The Purple Aces stand at 6-7 on the season with six of the losses coming by a combined seven runs. Last weekend, UE picked up a pair of victories at the Eagle Round Robin in Statesboro, Ga. The bats came alive on Friday in a 14-8 win over Georgia Southern. Jessica Fehr, Jenna Lis and Kat Mueller combined for 13 RBI in the win.

Fehr was 3-5 with a home run and four RBI. Lis added a grand slam as the Aces picked up 14 runs on 14 hits, both season highs. Mueller completed the game with two hits and four RBI.

Saturday's opener saw Evansville pick up another win, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth before clinching a 7-6 win over Furman. Fehr added her second home run of the season while posting three more hits while Hannah Hood added two hits, two RBI and two runs scored.

Taking on Big 10 squad Maryland on Saturday afternoon, the Aces excelled in the circle with Izzy Vetter tossing a gem in a close 1-0 loss. The sophomore threw all six innings and allowed one run on four hits while striking out five. Courtney Wyche fanned 15 batters and gave up one hit in the win for the Terrapins.

This weekend begins against North Alabama, who is 9-4 through the first three weekends of play. Their four losses came against Mississippi State and Tulsa, who each defeated them twice. Last season, they won 26 games. They are led by Lexie Harper's .405 average.

Northern Illinois is coming off of a 22-win campaign and stand at an even 5-5. Following a 1-4 start, the Huskies have won four of their last five games. Kara Apato has batted .500 through the first two weeks for NIU. She has 14 hits in 28 at-bats. Saturday's action will wrap up against Northwestern State. The Lady Demons are 8-5 on the season with Hayley Barbazon batting .515 through the opening stretch. She has 17 hits in 33 at-bats while pacing the team with 14 RBI. In 2019, Northwestern State won 30 games.

On Sunday, UE faces host Memphis in the finale. The Tigers are 7-8 through their opening 15 games. Their top weekend came in the season-opening Paradise Classic in Hawaii where they went 3-2 with wins over Iowa State, Hawaii and Northern Colorado. Sam Ibison has a team-best .400 average with 22 hits on the season.
