Women's Soccer Faces UNI in Friday Night Conference Showdown

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Purple Aces women's soccer program gets set for game two of the season against conference foe Northern Iowa, Friday night at Arad McCutchan Stadium.

Know the Aces
  • In the season opener Evansville took on Illinois State, but fell 1-0 to the Redbirds. The Purple Aces put up a fight with six saves and two shots on goal. 
  • The Purple Aces enter year one under a familiar face in head coach Chris Pfau. Pfau was promoted to head of the UE women's soccer program in December 2019. Pfau, who returned to the Aces sideline as an assistant coach in May of 2019 will begin his second stint as the Aces head coach, serving at the top spot from 2005-07.
  • Evansville returns the top two goal scores from 2019, with Emily Ormson and Emily Wolak. Ormson also led the Aces in points and shot attempts, while Wolak was a main component for the Aces mid-field.
  • UE returns eight starters from a season ago, including second team all-MVC Wolak and all-Freshman Kristen Harvey.
  • Returning for her senior season is Aces goalkeeper Michaela Till, who posted 90 saves with a .763 goals-against-average. Till ranks fourth all time in career saves with 259.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Georgia Katsonouri was called up to the Cyprus National Women's Soccer Team back in November 2020 to play in the UEFA Women's Euro qualifiers.
  • Evansville was picked seventh in the MVC Preseason poll.
Know the Panthers
  • Northern Iowa comes into the matchup with a record of 0-0-2, 0-0-1 MVC with draws against Valpariso and Iowa State. 
  • The Purple Aces hold a 14-5-3 all-time record against UNI.
  • Last year when the two teams met in Cedar Falls, the Aces came away with a 1-0 victory. The win against the Panthers helped qualify the Aces place in the MVC post season.

  • Aces soccer tickets will not be for sale for the general public for the 2021 season. Attendance will be limited to invited friends and family of the home and away teams and a limited number of student tickets.
