Know the Aces
  • The Purple Aces picked up the first win of the young season against Northern Iowa, 1-0 on Friday at Arad McCutchan Stadium, in double overtime. 15 seconds into the second overtime, Emily Ormson intercepted a pass back by UNI and found a path to get into the open field. Ormson went half the length of the field to find the back of the net and the Purple Aces victory.
  • In her second start of her career Lauren Fisher made five cluth saves to help the Aces fight for the victory over UNI. Fisher ranks second in the MVC in saves per game.
  • The Purple Aces enter year one under a familiar face in head coach Chris Pfau. Pfau was promoted to head of the UE women's soccer program in December 2019. Pfau, who returned to the Aces sideline as an assistant coach in May of 2019 will begin his second stint as the Aces head coach, serving at the top spot from 2005-07.
  • Evansville returns the top two goal scores from 2019, with Emily Ormson and Emily Wolak. Ormson also led the Aces in points and shot attempts, while Wolak was a main component for the Aces mid-field.
  • UE returns eight starters from a season ago, including second team all-MVC Wolak and all-Freshman Kristen Harvey.
  • Returning for her senior season is Aces goalkeeper Michaela Till, who posted 90 saves with a .763 goals-against-average. Till ranks fourth all time in career saves with 259.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Georgia Katsonouri was called up to the Cyprus National Women's Soccer Team back in November 2020 to play in the UEFA Women's Euro qualifiers.
  • Evansville was picked seventh in the MVC Preseason poll.
Know the Salukis
  • Southern Illinois enters the match up with a 0-2-1, 0-1-1 MVC record. In conference play SIU fell to Indiana State, while they drew a draw with Valparaiso.
  • SIU is entering their second year as a program and first year full time in the Missouri Valley, so this marks the first match up between the Aces and Salukis.
  • SIU head coach Grant Williams spent six seasons as assistant coach at UE, where he was a part of two conference championships.
