ST. LOUIS – On the heels of a season that saw her pace the Missouri Valley Conference with 4.43 kills per set, University of Evansville senior Alondra Vazquez earned a spot on the Preseason All-MVC First Team.

Vazquez was one of the top offensive performers in the nation throughout the spring season. She led the NCAA with 14.13 attacks per game while her kill tally was 16
th in the country. Her attack total of 1,060 on the season was 6
th in the nation.

A First Team All-MVC selection in the spring, Vazquez set career highs with 32 kills and 32 digs in a match at Drake. It is believed to be the first such performance in MVC history and is one of fewer than 10 instances in NCAA history.

She garnered MVC Player of the Week honors on March 15 after registering 5.57 kills and 4.43 digs per set in a weekend sweep over Southern Illinois. Aside from her offensive prowess, Vazquez was solid on the defensive end, ranking second on the squad with 3.55 digs.

The season is just eight days away when the Aces head to the Purdue Fort Wayne Invitational to face SIU Edwardsville, Kent State and Purdue Fort Wayne on August 27-28.
