ST. LOUIS - Making it back-to-back honors for the Aces, University of Evansville women's soccer junior Emilie Hill has been named Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced in a release from the Conference office Tuesday afternoon.
Hill's award follows teammate Michaela Till's Defensive Player of the Week honor last week as the Aces have taken two of the first three weekly defensive honors from The Valley.
In a set of two matches this week, Hill kept the Aces record unblemished, making and impact on both the attack and the defensive end. Against SEMO on Thursday, Hill contributed to the game-winning goal, providing an assist on Kristen Harvey's goal in the 25th minute of the 1-0 win. The shutout marked the 10th shutout Hill has contributed in just three seasons in white and purple. On Sunday, Hill helped limit the Norse to a goal and prevented NKU from evening the match to keep Evansville undefeated in the 1-1 tie. The Aces 4-0-2 start is the program's best in history, topping the four-game undefeated starts in 1994 and 2001.Â
The honor is the first conference weekly award for Hill, who has excelled for the Aces, capturing 2021 Preseason All-MVC honors and honorable mention all-MVC honors after the spring campaign.
Evansville is back in action on the road on Thursday at 6 PM with a matchup with Austin Peay in Clarksville, Tenn.
