EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Evansville sophomores Adam Oulgout (St. Paul, Minn./Central) and Ellie Stewart (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard South) both cracked the individual top 10 on Saturday, as the Purple Aces hosted the 20th-annual UE Invitational at Angel Mounds Cross Country Course in Evansville.

Oulgout placed sixth overall in the men's 8-K race Saturday with his second consecutive personal-best time with a mark of 26:28.6.  Stewart, meanwhile, placed tenth in the women's 5-K race with a personal-best time of 20:39.3.  Overall, eight of the ten Purple Aces who competed today posted season-best times, with three women and two men posting personal-best times.

"It's always nice to get to be at home, and as a first-time host at Angel Mounds, I was very excited to see how the course would run," said UE Director of Cross Country/Track & Field Brooks LeCompte.  "The teams overall ran well, despite missing a couple of people today.

"We are very small team-wise, so not having one or two people in the race can really hurt us, but everyone knew this and picked up the slack."

Oulgout was UE's top finisher, with fifth-year runner Carson Kline (Terre Haute, Ind./South) running second on the team and placing 20th overall with a time of 27:52.6.  Freshman Joey Taylor (Grove City, Ohio/Central Crossing) ran third for UE with a time of 29:11.2, while junior Luke Watts (Austin, Ind./Austin) turned in a personal-best time by nearly a minute with a mark of 30:23.2.  Junior Jacob Moffatt (Weston, Idaho/West Side) ran fifth for UE in his first race of the year.

"Overall, the men ran well today, with Adam leading us again," said LeCompte.  "A shout out to Luke Watts as well for the big PR today."

On the women's side, all five finishers for UE posted season-best times led by Stewart's tenth-place finish.  Juniors Emma Denbo (French Lick, Ind./Springs Valley) and Hannah Bryan (Evansville, Ind./Reitz) both turned in personal-best times of 21:41.2 and 22:06.1, while placing 22nd and 25th overall.  Sophomore Kaitlyn Sansone (Fairfield, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) finished just 10 seconds later to post a season-best time and place 27th overall, while senior Claire Griffy (Salem, Ill./Salem Community) cut over three minutes off her season-best time.

"Coming off Louisville, the main message to the women was to keep racing after the first mile, and today, we took a huge step in the right direction with the group in that area," said LeCompte.  "I still think that we can improve even more at the MVCs.  I am excited to go back to Terre Haute in two weeks."

Evansville will take this next week off before taking part in the Missouri Valley Conference Championships in Terre Haute, Indiana on Friday, October 28.
