ST. LOUIS, Mo. - In the Missouri Valley Conference's preseason release, University of Evansville baseball senior Shane Gray has been named to the Conference's Preseason First Team, it was announced on Tuesday morning by the conference office.

 Gray's honor comes after one of the best pitching seasons in recent memory for the Aces as the West Jefferson, Ohio native earned all-MVC second team honors following the 2021 campaign. Gray tallied a 2.84 ERA, placing Gray third-best in The Valley in the category during the regular season. Gray's 6-4 record was best amongst Evansville pitchers and the sophomore struck-out a team-high 73 batters.

Accompanying the all-Valley team was the MVC's preseason poll, which the Aces were selected seventh in. 2021 champion Dallas Baptist was a unanimous selection at the top, earning all eight first-team votes, and capturing 64 points.

The Aces open the 2022 campaign on Feb. 18-20 at NC State in Raleigh, N.C.
