Previewing the Matchup: Northwestern
  • The Aces and Wildcats are meeting for just the ninth time in series history with Northwestern owning a 5-3 advantage in the all-time series.
  • Meeting last more than eight years ago, Evansville has won the last two contests in the series, including the most recent on March 13, 2014, 6-4, in Evansville.
  • Evansville is in the midst of a four-game win streak, its longest since a similar point of the season last year where the Aces ran-off a string of eight-straight victories from March 27 to April 9.
  • The last time Evansville faced an opponent from the Big Ten, the Aces captured a 5-4 win over Indiana at home in what would be the 2020 season finale prior to the COVID-19 pandemic canceling the rest of the season.

Superlatives Versus the Govs
  • In an offensive explosion in a 20-4 win over Austin Peay on Wednesday night, the Aces rewrote much of its "Last Time" page.
  • The 20 runs were the most scored by Evansville since March 8, 2016 and the 12-run sixth inning was the highest-scoring inning for the Aces since April 5, 2011.
  • The Aces also tallied 20 hits in the game, its most since March 8, 2016.

Simon Catches Fire

  • The Aces leading returner in terms of batting average has bounced back from a cold start to the season.
  • After opening the 2022 campaign 2-of-20 at the plate, Scherry has returned to form and enters the weekend with a .333 average.
  • Helping that is the fact that Scherry is has gone 10-of-17 (.588) at the dish over the last three games, including two doubles, a homer, and eight RBI.
