MILL SPRINGS, N.C. – Mallory Russell and Kate Petrova led the University of Evansville women's golf team in the opening day of the Bright Creek Women's Invite at Bright's Creek Club.
Russell opened the day with an 83 before carding a 74 in round two. Her second-round total was the lowest for the team on Saturday. Her score is a 157.
Petrova completed Saturday's 36 holes just one behind Russell. Rounds of 80 and 78 put her at a 158. Allison Enchelmayer is third for the team with a 161. After opening the day with an 81, she posted an 80 in the second 18 holes.
Magdalena Borisova recorded rounds of 84 and 80 to complete the day with a 164 while Carly Frazier shot an 83 and 86 to post a 169 entering Sunday's round. Destynie Sheridan played as an individual and finished with a 168. Her rounds finished at a 79 and 89.
UE is in second place, five strokes off the lead. Russell is in the 5th position, eight strokes behind the leader.
