Softball travels to Conway, Arkansas for weekend tournament

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Four games are on the slate this weekend when the University of Evansville softball team travels to Conway, Ark. for the 2026 Michelle Short & Adam Brown Memorial Collegiate Classic.

UE is set to face Central Arkansas in two games while taking on Southeastern Louisiana and Saint Louis in one contest each. Southeastern Louisiana won 50 games last season on the way to the Southland Conference Championship. At the Baton Rouge Invitational, the Lions earned two victories over 10th-ranked LSU. The Billikens were the Atlantic 10 Tournament Champs last year and played in the Fayetteville Regional.
 
Last weekend, the Purple Aces took part in the 901 Classic in Memphis earning wins over Miami Ohio and USI. Maliyah Wilkins had a stellar week batting .500 with three home runs, nine RBI, and five runs scored. For her efforts, Wilkins was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player and Newcomer of the Week on Tuesday. Wilkins recorded seven hits in her final 10 at-bats last weekend.
 
Taylor Howe and Emma McDonald each batted .333 in the 901 Classic. Howe scored five runs while picking up three RBI. McDonald went 3-4 while scoring twice in the 11-3 win over Miami Ohio on Friday. Alexis Tucker threw the complete game to pick up her first win of the 2026 campaign.
 
In Saturday's win over the Screaming Eagles, Wilkins went 2-3 with two runs and two RBI to lead the way. Niki Bode also had a strong game going 2-4 with an RBI. Kate Ridgway struck out 10 batters in the game on the way to her third win of the season. Sophia Otten earned the save.
