Adams and Howe help Aces earn Saturday split

CONWAY, Ark. – After opening the day with a 10-0 loss to Southeastern Louisiana, the University of Evansville softball team rallied for a 5-4 win over Central Arkansas in Saturday's action in Arkansas.

Game 1 – Southeastern Louisiana 10, UE 0 - Box Score

Southeastern Louisiana tagged Kate Ridgway for eight runs in 3 1/3 innings on their way to a 10-0 win in five innings. Brilee Ford's 2-run double highlighted a 4-run bottom of the first for the Lions.

After adding a pair of runs in the third, the Lions put things out of reach with four more runs in the bottom half of the fourth. Macie LaRue earned the win for the Lions, throwing four frames while striking out five. UE was limited to one hit, which came off the bat of Maliyah Wilkins in the top of the first.

Game 2 – UE 5, Central Arkansas 4 - Box Score

Trailing 4-0 following the second inning, the Purple Aces recorded the final five runs to finish the day with a 5-4 victory over Central Arkansas.

Following a single run in the bottom of the first, Central Arkansas scored three in the bottom of the second. With the bases loaded, Addi Graham hit a bases-clearing triple to extend the lead to 4-0. Evansville cut deficit in half in the top half of the third when Maliyah Wilkins and Morgan Adams each posted RBIs to cut the gap to 4-2.

Things remained at 4-2 until the top of the fifth when the Aces stormed back. Brooke Voss opened with a single while Taylor Howe was hit by a pitch. Voss scored on a groundout by Adams while Howe would cross the plate on a fielding error to tie the game.

Taylor Howe led off the top of the 7th with a double and would score what would be the game-winning run on another Adams single. Alexis Tucker allowed a baserunner in the bottom of the 7th, but finished the job and sealed the 5-4 win.

Adams went 2-4 with three RBI while Howe was 2-3 while scoring three runs in the contest. Tucker threw a complete game allowing four runs, three earned, on two hits. She struck out two batters.
