NASHVILLE, Tenn. – University of Evansville pitcher Kate Ridgway allowed just two runs in six innings of work as the Purple Aces dropped the series finale to Belmont by a 2-0 final on Saturday.
 
Ridgway gave up five hits while striking out four batters. Bruins pitcher Maya Johnson threw a complete game while striking out 16 batters and giving up three hits. Niki Bode recorded two hits while Emma McDonald added the third UE hit of the day.
 
Belmont was led by Lydia Vanderwoude who went 2-3 while scoring both runs for her squad. Belmont opened the scoring in the bottom of the first when Nicole Hughes hit an RBI double.
 
McDonald recorded the first UE hit of the day in the third while Bode added a double in the top of the fourth. It remained a 1-0 game until the Bruins pushed their second run across the plate in the bottom of the fifth.
 
With the Aces looking for a late surge, Bode registered her second double of the afternoon in the seventh before Johnson picked up the final outs to take the win.
 
UE returns home to face Indiana State in a rescheduled doubleheader. The teams will now meet on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Tri-State Orthopaedics Field at Cooper Stadium.
