ST. LOUIS – In a week highlighted by a 37-point game and buzzer-beater against Valparaiso, University of Evansville senior AJ Casey has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week.
 
Casey averaged 24.7 points per game in the Purple Aces' three games last week while adding an average of 8.7 rebounds and 35.9 minutes. He shot 61.4% from the field and 80.0% from the free throw line while adding a total of eight assists and four blocked shots.
 
Highlighting the week was his career game against the Beacons where he set highs in points (37), field goals (12), and free throws (10) while tying his high with 11 rebounds. He banked in the game-winning triple at the buzzer to give the Aces an 80-79 victory.
 
Converting 10 of his 16 attempts in the road game at Belmont last Wednesday, Casey scored 21 points while adding seven boards and five assists. He completed the week with 16 points and eight caroms in the home contest versus Southern Illinois.
